The Chiltern Railway Company

Chiltern Railways, legally known as The Chiltern Railway Company Limited, is a British train operating company that has operated the Chiltern Railways franchise since July 1996.

Since 2009, it has been a subsidiary of Arriva UK Trains. The company operates commuter and regional rail passenger services from its central London terminus at Marylebone along the M40 corridor to destinations in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, and Warwickshire, as well as long-distance services to the West Midlands. Notably, Chiltern Railways launched services between Oxford and London in December 2016, establishing the first new rail link between London and a major city in 100 years. The company is also involved in the upcoming East West Rail project, which aims to connect Oxford and Cambridge via Bicester, Milton Keynes, and Bedford. Chiltern Railways is committed to modernising and decarbonising its operations through its “Right Route 2030” vision, focusing on delivering easier, greener, and better train travel for its communities.
